We again joined our home congregation for our worship time this morning via livestream! (What wonderful technology!)
It was 7 AM our time. We were blessed by the Mullets singing and sharing from the Word.

When we left Mamayeh we had to go back into Prince George to get to the highway. And wouldn't you know, Miss GPS was confused again! She took us on streets that did not seem right, and the next thing we knew, we found ourselves sitting in the middle of a parking lot behind some townhouses! A pick-up truck pulled up beside us with a young couple inside who laughingly asked if we were lost. We were laughing too! They kindly directed us out, saying the road used to go back there and often the GPS mistakenly takes people back there. So we were not crazy after all! They then offered to lead us out, and told us to follow them! We were so grateful to be back on the Yellowhead highway. We made a make-shift seat by putting our 6" stool between the couch and the dinette, adding a pillow or two, and then one of us sits there to enjoy the front facing view, as Barb is doing here. It is really quite comfortable! |
| We had a rather uneventful day of driving, enjoying the changing beauty as we went. |
| Sometimes Barb went "upstairs" while we were driving, to read or relax. I had my Sunday afternoon nap on the couch today, but didn't sleep long because the frig door flew open and stuff fell out and woke me!😌It hadn't been latched right! |
| As we approached Jasper, this grandiose mountain came into view. Again I have to say that the pictures do not do it justice, not at all! It was magnificent! You get a little bit of an idea of it's size with the comparison with the car. |
It is Mount Robson, and stands 12,972 feet tall! That is over 2 miles high!! It is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies! It was our highest peak for today too! The highlight! |
I took a dozen pictures or more, but am only showing three. It was in our driving view for quite a few miles. We were in awe! What a Mighty Creator we have! |
| More beautiful blue waters! |
| It rained a bit as the afternoon turned toward evening and we made our way toward Jasper National Park. |
| As we crossed from British Columbia into Alberta, we went from Pacific time to Mountain time, losing an hour. |
When we arrived at the entrance to the Jasper National Park on Route 93, (called the Icefields Parkway), we were asked for our pass. We had none! But this year is Canada's 150th birthday so the passes are free! |
We inquired about this campsite at Whistlers Provincial Park through a phone reservation service for Parks Canada, and were told they had no availability. But Marie suggested we stop and ask, since we were going passed, so we did! And they had a site for us! It was a lovely private campsite, enclosed with pine trees, and I forgot to take a picture! It was "unserviced" which meant no hook-ups, so we dry camped, had supper and played Rook til bedtime. It was another good Lord's Day!

Breathtakingly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat mountain!!! I would have gladly looked at all 12 of the pictures you took! So you were in Alberta? I guess by now you are much further east. I have cousins in Alberta. Earlier this summer Barb and John took a trip up to Alberta and hunted for the place where John's great grandpa Brubaker had homesteaded. When they found the place they talked to a neighbor and discovered that he was is a brother in the Torkleson family into which several of our cousins married!
