Many years ago I heard my B & B guests talking about The Cabot Trail, and it made me want to go!
Today was the day! We started out our day at The Big Spot for a good breakfast. It was cold! Especially with the A/C blowing down on me! My hoodie and hot coffee to the rescue!

I think they are hilarious, but they get the job done!
And on the back of the Women's bathroom door (opps! We are in Canada now and they are washrooms!) Anyway, on the back of the Women's washroom door is this sign! Relief!! 😁
We took scenic coastal Route 19 to get to the Cabot Trail.
We saw these sea gulls having their Monday morning meeting there on the roofline!
Within a few miles of our motel, we came to this welcome sign....
although Cape Breton Island and the Cabot Trail were still miles away!
Early today the weather was very overcast so the views as well as my pictures are not the clearest.
Along the way we saw another little red barn....😊
.....many beautiful roadside flowers.
and marinas dotting the shoreline.
One of the towns along our route had these lovely hanging baskets adorning the sidewalks.
This interesting musical note along the sidewalk is a bike rack,
and also is symbolic of the local cultural folk music.
There is a very strong Irish and Scottish heritage in Cape Breton Island.
We see a lot of signs mentioning the word "ceilidh",
which is a social gathering that involves playing Gaelic folk music and dancing.
The Cabot Trail is considered one of the world's most scenic destinations, offering spectacular coastal drives, with stunning ocean vistas, old-growth forests, interesting rock formations, and the beautiful Cape Breton highlands.
A visit to one of the information centers directed us to the Inverness beach to search for sea glass, which is simply weathered glass found on beaches along bodies of salt water.
There we found easy walking boardwalks.
The topography of this place reminded me of pictures of Ireland that I have seen.
First of all, wading in the surf was a priority!
Marie found several little pieces of sea glass!
As we continued we saw many beautiful vistas!

There are little farms scattered in the valleys.
Cheticamp is a fishing village on the Cabot Trail at the western entrance to
Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
We had to use binoculars to see this herd of steers sun bathing on this point along the Cheticamp River. Some of them must have been out longer because they have a deeper tan.😉
So many beautiful rugged coastline vistas!
And then there was construction!
So many fishing villages.....so many fishing boats!
And then we came to Frog Pond Cafe, and we all suddenly wanted a "coffee" break!
A harpist was playing relaxing music.
Lemonade for Margie, coffee for the rest.
And a few pastries to share.

As we were leaving our motel this morning, we saw a stump with painted rocks on it, and a note asking those who saw them to take them along and place them somewhere else to be an encouragement to others. We picked this lovely large green one, because we wanted to wite our own message on the back of the rock. I don't even remember what it said on the front but it was a secular message of encouragement. We stopped at a store and bought a black permanent marker and wrote this message of God's love and plan of salvation. We left it high on a mountain at a scenic pull-out,
praying that God would direct someone to it who needed this message.

No much natural beauty! What a Creator!
After we had completed the 182 mile circle that is called the Cabot Trail, we were hungry and ready for supper! We stopped at several restaurants and at each one the entree's looked very pricey.
There just are not many family restaurants as we know them in Lancaster County!
We then found this Family restaurant in Baddock,which served Chinese food.
It was very reasonable, very good, and very nutritious!
And then we drove back to Cove Motel for a second night.
It had been a great day!
