Several months ago we ladies were hanging out at Marie's house one evening when I asked them if they wanted to go on another Awesome Wander with me....this time northeast to New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island  and Nova Scotia.  It took a little convincing but eventually we all agreed it would be a fun trip! But not everyone wanted to go in the motor home, so we decided to try a car road trip this time.We needed to work around a family photo shoot, a granddaughter's wedding and other summer events, but we settled on leaving Sunday morning August 19. 

This morning we met at Marie's house at 7 AM and packed my little CRV with all our stuff....in the pouring rain!!  Before we were 5 minutes into the trip, we had two  different  "wardrobe malfunctions",  which sparked the first of may rounds of hilarious laughter!!  We had a good day of driving, in spite of the rain!  It wasn't too long until the rain stopped. Several walks in parking lots to keep from getting stiff😊, some Starbucks coffee to keep from getting sleepy, grazing on cheese and pretzels, veggies and dip, dark  chocolate covered blueberries and nuts, to keep from getting hungry, plus lots of girl-talk and laughter kept the miles moving along.   At 10 AM we connected via bluetooth to our Sunday morning service at New Covenant, which played loud and clear over the car speakers!  Isn't modern technology great? The ladies were even able to watch the mission presentations on the screen! (But I had to keep my eyes on the road!)            We ran into some heavy traffic, surprising for a Sunday, with stop and go for about 20 minutes. I drove 400 miles and then got sleepy so Margie took over the wheel for the last 100  miles. Our destination for the night was Lewiston, Maine.

Margie has been long-time friends with Dennis and Mary Jane Meyers, who have lived in Lewiston for many years, and they invited us to spend the night at their house.  

Their lovely home was a welcome sight after 10 hours stuffed in a car! 

Our gracious hosts, Dennis , Mary Jane and their son Jeremy, welcomed us with warm hospitality!

Mary Jane had prepared us a delicious supper of veggie pizza, barbequed little smokies, grapes, chips, zuchini brownies and ice cream! A full meal tasted so good after grazing a lot of the day!

 They helped with the church plant of Lewiston Church of the Brethren many years ago. Tonight they had church, and their son Sheldon was preaching. We walked down the street and around the corner to their lovely church building, which formerly was a Jewish synogouge.

 With rising at 4:30-5 AM, some of us (I won't mention any names!😉) had a bit of a struggle staying awake for the whole service.  However, Sheldon had a very good sermon on  I Samuel 6.      So when we arrived back at the house, our bedroom looked very inviting!

         It was the close of a great day!
