This morning we met for breakfast in this sunny yellow dining room at The Coastal Inn.. We took along our fresh-picked blueberries to eat on our cereal! I don't remember the last time I had cereal for breakfast, so fresh blueberries was a good reason to eat cereal again! Yum!
After we packed up, we left behind our charming rooms, complete with flowered window boxes, and headed down the Digby Neck, our scenic drive for the day.
Lots of fishing is done here.
Stopping at Whale Cove was recommended to us.
It is a rugged, rocky and remote place.
But has a beautiful ocean view!
While we were watching for whales ( we didn't see any, but did see some porpoises)
Marie noticed this mink dragging a dead sea gull across the sea-weed covered rocks.
The gull was as big as the mink!
The sea gulls were healthy and fat, indicating there was lots of fish in the sea!
There was a small white building sitting out there, and a car parked beside it.
We were not there very long when this lady came out to talk to us.
She told us she was raised on Digby Neck and this building was her father's fishing shack.
She had recently remodeled it into her home. She invited us inside to see it.
What a view she has! She often sees whales, or hears them slapping their tails on the water.
Her name is Crystal. She told us she will live here until October or November then drains the pipes and move back to her home for the winter. It was a fun and God-ordained encounter,
as we had opportunity to witness to her.
We then continued our drive south until we came to the end of the peninsula.
There we took the ferry across the water to Long Island.
When we got to the southern end of Long Island, we decided to turn around and go north again.
There was one more ferry to Briar Island.
On our return trip when we got off the ferry from Long Island unto the peninsula,
we decided to have lunch at a small cafe right there at the ferry. Margie and I shared a scallop roll.
The roll was buttered and grilled, and the scallops were cooked to perfection!

Again, the food was so very delicious!
The sun was warm and inviting as we sat on the deck, looking down on the water!
We took the scenic route across the north shore, along the
Bay of Fundy, for our reservations at Comfort Inn back in Truro for tonight, making our circle around the southern part of Nova Scotia complete. We saw signs for a local bakery and stopped in. (We enjoy hitting the local spots.) Along with 2 cinnamon rolls,
we picked up a 6-pack of oatmeal orange cookies with chocolate chips.
Different but so good! The orange zest added a unique burst of flavor!
While I was paying the bill, we decided to bless the lady standing there by paying for her loaf of bread. Just payin' it forward!
Did I mention that we saw soooo many little white churches, all over the province?
And many interesting bodies of water. When we crossed the border into New Brunswick last Monday, the young guy at customs told us we are going to see lots of water. And we are!
Oceans, bays, lakes, rivers, streams, tidal bores, inlets.......
And we drove through a lot of lovely farm lands.....
Around 5 PM we checked in at Comfort Inn.
Here is where we went for supper in Truro.....
an Italian eatery with great food that did not break the bank.!
We started with little individual loaves of bread and salad.....
Then delicious pasta.....
Vegetable Pomodori for Barb and me,
Chicken Brocolli Alfredo for Margie,
Asian Pasta Toss for Marie.
A lady at the next table came over and gave us 4 coupons for free desserts with the purchase of an entree, and we couldn't resist! After all, they were FREE! So we really splurged!
Barb and Marie had the white chocolate lemon cheesecake
and Marie says it was yum!!
Margie choose the sticky toffee pudding cake,
and the brownie sundae was mine. So large I could not eat all of it!
We ended up fat and happy and headed to our very comfortable rooms for the night!

I really need to take a look at the map. I can’t even picture where the places are that you’re visiting! I remember following on the map last year on your trip.
