Tuesday-June 27, Day 7-Saskatchewan to Alberta

During last night it  became very windy so that the motor home was gently  rocking in the gusts. The small kitchen window was left open for ventilation, and the roof vent was open a bit  so it was a very noisy night!  I was too lazy and sleepy, and too cold to crawl out of my sleeping bag to fix things, so it was not a very solid night of sleep. In spite of the circumstances , we got up at 5:15, got ready and packed up and headed toward the border. We gassed up with cheaper US gas, and at Portal, ND  crossed into Canada without any problems. 

In Saskatchewan we saw lots of cattle grazing.....

So many bugs met their demise on the windshield as we fought a head wind all day long. We  passed through construction  where one lane was blocked (on a two lane highway) and there were no flagmen.....no one to direct traffic. So we had to watch the oncoming traffic and decide when it was safe for us to pass on the left side of the road.  I suppose they think there is not enough traffic to warrant a salary for a flagman.

We gained an extra hour today, as Saskatchewan does not do Daylight Saving Time.  After 567 miles of driving we settled in at this camping spot.

For supper Barb made a delicious chicken taco soup with black bean and rice corn chips, and hot dogs. To satisfy our sweet tooth we had some of Freeman's banana nut bread and Bob's canola honey!

It was chilly and windy so we spent our evening inside. We hit the hay early at 9 PM, anticipating another long day of driving tomorrow.
