Friday-June 23-Day 3- Living the Amish Life

We had no sooner crawled in bed last night ,when  it started to thunder and lightning. It wasn't a severe storm, but there was a lot of rain . It was such a soothing sound to fall asleep to, the falling of raindrops on  the rooftop of our motor home.

We awoke to bright sunny skies (at 5:15 AM!!!  πŸ˜“) !  Freeman said they had an inch and a half of rain in the night.  He had to go to a cousin's brunch, but Marietta made us brunch at home. Her daughter stopped in with her 4 girls, as well as an aunt and uncle of Mariettas. The girls picked 2 buckets of strawberries which we cleaned for them. We soon all went to the motor home where we took naps!  And it wasn't even noontime yet!  When Freeman got back from brunch,, he took us ladies on a  buggy ride!  What fun!

Freeman and Marietta have 10 children, 6 of which live in their settlement. They have 60 grandchildren. That evening there was a family picnic planned at their son David's place.  He is a cabinet maker and his business is called Lone Oak Cabinetry. So we packed up the motor home for travel and took Freeman and Marietta with us to drive the 10 miles to the picnic. I wish so much I could have taken pictures of their family.  They had some of the cutest little Amish children! I don't know how many people were there, but it was probably about 20 adults and 40 grandchildren of all ages. It was special to see their children again as it had been many years since I would have seen them.

Naomi had many pretty flowers

There were many hats....

...and quite a few buggies. Some families came in two buggies.

Now here is an Amish lady that did allow us to take her picture!
Guess who? πŸ˜…
