Today was the day we had tickets to see the musical "Anne of Green Gables" at the 

Confederation Center for the Arts in Charlottestown at 1:30 PM.  

So we decided to use our morning to explore the  eastern part of PEI

on the "Points East Coastal Drive".

 It was another beautiful perfect day!

Now here was a quaint little country church that isn't painted white!  

We again drove through some beautiful farmland!

There were a LOT of hay fields with round bales.

 And it seemed there were potato fields everywhere!

PEI is famous for their potatoes!

We were surprised that most of the fields were still quite green. 

 The stalks had not yet died off.

We were later told that most of the harvest happens in November.

And then we came to a field where they were harvesting potatoes already.
It must have been an early variety.

And a potato barn, just waiting for harvest to begin!

We drove to Panmure Island Provincial Park along the east coast to see the lighthouse there.

There we found what appeared to be the "Lake of Shining Waters"! 😉 

(as in Anne of Green Gables)

It was a beautiful quiet peaceful place......

.....with a beautiful arbor and  some delightful wild flowers!

 We were told there was a raft where the seals would sun themselves.

So we drove to another cove to look for it.

There it was!  But only the birds  were sun bathing!

But with with binoculars and my telephoto lens

 we were able to see some seals swimming in the water.

It was soon time to head back to Charlottetown for our matinee.

But we really wanted to see the Amish that live on PEI.

We wanted to see how they live in comparison to our Amish back home in Lancaster County.

So we asked at the Visitors Information Center, and one of the staff marked a road on the map for us.

This is the road sign that indicates caution because of the buggies on the roads.

And then we saw corn shocks in the field!  And there was a beautiful Amish farm!
We could tell because of the name on the mailbox!
But the farm was in a very long lane, and we really could not get a good glimpse of how they live.

And then Marie spied the sign attached to the mailbox post.....

So we made a quick decision that we wanted some fresh cucumbers to eat!

We drove slowly in the lane, past the pasture with grazing cows and horses.....
OMW!! We were acting like tourists!!😏

A girl that looked to be around 12 years old came out of the barn with her little brother.  

Marie talked to her in Dutch, asking if we could buy some cucumbers.

She said she will need to pick some in the garden,

but then she came out of the house with a basket of them.

Marie asked her some questions and found out their family moved here three years ago 

from Ontario. 

I sneaked a picture of the little brother that he was not aware of

 but did not want to offend the daughter so did not get her picture. 

He was so adorable, but just as dirty as he was adorable!

 Barb and Marie chose three cucumbers from the basket.

When asked  how much she wants for them, she said 

"I don't know. Maybe a dollar or two".

So we gave her a "loonie" (Canadian $2 coin)

and she seemed very happy with that.

Later after we washed the cucumbers, we ate some slices with salt and they were very good!!

 We had seen the Amish on PEI !!

But by then it was high time to be getting back to town.

This musical was one event we were really looking forward to!

And we were not disappointed!

 We saw Robert and Lily sitting several rows down in front of us!

 The show was EXCELLANT!  Very Professional! Very well done!

We laughed a lot....!!

It lasted almost 3 hours, with an intermission about half way through.

It was very similar to the movie, but adapted for theater.

We were prohibited from taking any pictures during the show,

as usually is the case in events like this.

But afterwards Anne and Diana posed for pictures!

 This evening we chose an early dinner at the Moo Moo Grilled Cheesery.

Yup!  Grilled cheese is their main offering!

Made with COWS cheddar cheese and butter!

 There were a number of variations to choose from.

This one that I ordered was a turkey, tomato, and spinach variety. It was so very yummy!

 The one other item on the menu beside grilled cheese was mac and cheese.

This was Marie's choice, topped with BBQ brisket !

That too was delicious!

(you see, we usually taste each others choices!😊)

When we were finished eating it was still rather early so we sauntered on over to 

Anne of Green Gables Chocolates......

There we watched them making chocolate candy.....

 And of coarse, we had to buy some.......

Our plan was to return to this complex around 8 PM for ice cream cones at COWS, 

which we still had not had yet....However, when 8 oclock came, we were all still too full from our grilled cheese, and we were kinda settled in at our hotel for the night,

 so we decided to postpone that treat until tomorrow!
